I have a Dell Inspiron desktop and a Samsung digital monitor. I had been using it in analog mode because I didn't know enough to realize I needed a different cable. The situation came to light when a friend sent a link to a "gigapixel" shot of a crowd and it should be possible to enlarge an individual face to see the person quite clearly. Here:

I could get down to see a bunch of people well, but adjacent photos would be blurry. My friend said that there were no blurry faces when he enlarged a section. I'm attaching a screenshot.
The Dell only has an HDMI socket and regular analog socket. I got an HDMI-Digital cable but it hasn't improved things. I need some advice and direction. Thanks
