Asus K53U laptop sound issues

Hi there , i just brought an Asus K53U laptop it all works great except for a problem i just cant get my head around when i use a program like Skype or any other program that uses the cam its taking priority i guess and i cant use my sound at all through Google for anything at all like movies or You tube for example but i can hear the person i'm talking to through the cam programs but my voice to them is crunchy,here's a list of what I've tried so far,

*made sure windows wasn't set to turn of all sound during a chat in the "connections" menu.
*reinstalled drivers from the Asus site
*fresh installed win 7
*made sure Skype was the only cam program installed

any help would be appreciated
