Solved: On board Mouse Pad

I have an Asus K52F running Windows 7. The keyboard has an Elan mouse pad that I can no longer permeantly disable or turnoff. It is a real nuisance and makes it difficult to type without touching it and creating errors. I use an external hand mouse. I have gone to control panel, mouse, Elan and disabled it. But it won't hold. I've been lucky a couple of times and did disable it but upon reboot its enabled again. I called Asus but they were of little help. If I uninstall it and need it down the road can I get it back. Thanks for any help on this.
