Hi I am new to the forums. I hope you fine people can give me some guidance as I don't know what I'm doing! So I bought a desktop that a guy built (who when I called to inform him of the problem won't return my calls) and apparently he didn't download the drivers for the hard drive from what I can tell. When I go in to device mgr there is no list of network adapters, ethernet nowhere to be found, and has yellow ! on other devices - mult audio controller, SM Bus Controller (what is that?). No sound is the least of my worries right now - I've been at this for days & I'm going to go insane if I can't figure this out. I have no $ to take it somewhere. I haven't used a computer with a floppy drive in over 10 years so I don't have any of those. A friend let me borrow their laptop for a few hours while he's at work to try & help, that is how I'm here now. Does that sound like the problem to you? When I go into System it says Computer: AMD Athlon, its running XP, nVIDIA nForce2 black thing on motherboard (thats the pu?), the writing on the motherboard, which is red not green, says M7NCG 400 VER. 7.2 on it. I obviously can't connect to the internet & I've tried to do the "work offline" thing by letting guests on my comp while in safe mode but can't get a .net passport & the thing won't recognize my printer so I couldn't get info from that (I'm stuck there now btw). I'm so frustrated & I don't know what to do! Please help! Is there a way for me to hook up the laptop that I have for the next few hours & somehow download the drivers to get them to the thing or maybe save it to a flash drive & try that way? I don't know. And this is just the first thing thats gone wrong! Its a biggie though because I have to have internet. Ok I'm rambling. Sorry.
