I have bought a new PC and monitor recently. The latter came with a DVI-D *single* mode (18+1 pin) cable, which is too short to reach the PC in its current location, so I need to buy a new longer cable.
All the longer cables which I have found so far have been *dual* mode (24+1 pin) cables. Although both PC and monitor have 24+1 pin sockets, the monitor at least does not support dual-mode.
Would it make any difference if I used a dual-mode cable? Will the hardware simply ignore the extra pin connections and still work happily in single-mode?
