I have a laptop that has a very odd problem; there seems to be 4GB RAM missing! There is 6GB RAM installed, only 1.5GB is available in Windows and 512MB is being used by the GPU, meaning that only 2GB is being used by Windows.
I have looked into the operating system's architecture, and it's x64, so this can't be the limiting factor. I've also looked at the possibility of the GPU taking the 4GB missing memory (an ATI Mobility Radeon), but both Catalyst Control Centre and Windows report that the GPU has only 512MB RAM available to it.
I know that the laptop is a Samsung laptop running Windows 8 (therefore it must have a UEFI BIOS), but do not have the exact model number.
What can cause this, and how can this issue be fixed?
To clarify:
Windows: 1.5GB RAM
GPU: 512MB GDDR5 RAM
Missing: 4GB(?)
