Safe to tape CD inside computer tower?

I have just redone my daughter's computer. I would like to keep the boot disk to restore it to this new state with the computer, but don't trust her family to keep up with it. I'm thinking about taping it inside the cover panel on the side that I remove to work on it. Would there be any risk to the computer or the disk if I do this? I'm thinking it might cause more heat or something.
