Blue Screen Crashing

Though this is a 'gaming' computer, I use it lightly. Nonetheless there is significant intermittent instability causing blue screen crashes routinely and without apparent cause - it could happen under load or no load at all. It might happen 10 times a day and require rebooting or once a day. Rare day it doesnt happen once. My Display adapter is ATI Radeon HD5700 which has a known problem when they 'downclock' which apparently has not been addressed which causes instability and crashing (I am running latest driver). I have run Malware bytes and adcleaner but problem persists.

I am not a techie so forgive my ignorance. Can I disable the Radeon adapter to try and see if that is what is causing the instability? If I do so, will I still have be able to see my screen - eg is there a built in default? When I look at hardware / display adapter, the Radeon is the only one listed. My first post on the forum, thanks!
