New computer going bananas.

Alright I will attempt to form this as clearly as possible for an easy diagnoses. FYI this is a friends computer who lives farish away, which may muffle my communication so to speak.

First off, specifications:

mobo: ASUS p9x79
cpu: Intel Core i7-3930K
graphics: EVGA GeForce GTX780
ram: G.SKILL Ripjaws X Series 2x8GB
psu: Corsair CX750
dvd drive: good ol asus 24x dvd drive
hd: Western Digital Caviar Green 3 TB, wd30ezrx
OS: Win 7 pro

The bananas:
Computer installs wonderfully, runs smoothly, everything going wonderfully, installing various updates, so on and so forth. After a period of time, perhaps an hour of doing small stuff, or after a 24 hourish period of installing updates and whatnot it then eventually crashes. At this point there is no way to access the system, even via safe mode. Most attempts to boot result in a BSOD. The bois may be accessed (bios version 4502 [uefi, or efi, or whatever it was]). Windows installation cd is used to delete the partition and reinstall windows and a same set of similar scenarios occur. By the way, in the boot priority menu of the bios there is an interesting question marked device that I still don't know what purpose it has (picture included).

I have provided picture of the various blue screens (and one bios) which are my only other leads. I do not know the order in which these errors occurred. I have searched the web for any solutions based on them but haven't found anything yet. With any luck the collective knowledge of techguy.org will know something I do not. My best guess is that this is a faulty harddrive based on the similarity I was feeling in the bsods.

UPDATE: My friend can still access the bios, but can't even get to the installation of windows via the windows 7 pro cd. Ram or motherboard issue? I am mystified.

I made this post in a flash so I apologize for anything I missed or was unclear about. I will attempt to answer any questions in a timely manner.
