Water damage repair?

A few weeks ago I accidentally spilled water on my laptop keyboard. At the time I tried everything but the damage was already done. Now, the laptop is mostly functional but various keys don't work. For example, the question mark, directional keys and num lock along with some others. The fan on the computer gets really loud sometimes too and I fear it is overheating. I am a college student and I write a lot of papers so this isn't going to work once school starts again.

My question is, should I bother taking it in to be repaired or would it be more worth my while to purchase a new laptop?
