Hope this is the right section.
The most peculiar things have been going on with my computer. While browsing the web, etc sometimes my computer will "freeze". Why do I put quotation marks? Because everything locks up,I can't access the start menu, etc but the mouse still moves, and I can access ctrl alt delete menu. From there, if I hit log off/shut down, the computer proceeds to do just that. Now, maybe 40% of the time the computer will "fix" itself from these freezes and resume activity.
Someone told me it might be my processor, I have a gaming laptop that's an i7 1.73 GHz that increases as the PC needs it. But if my processor was going, I wouldn't be able to play games. I fired up Counter Strike: Global Offensive today and it ran great.
This whole situation has me perplexed.
I'm able to force the freeze by copying large amounts of texts in a browser. (Note: I tried to achieve the same effect by copying large amounts of text from a wordpad document, it copied fine, no freeze.) I have a feeling it's browser-related, but I've tried 5 browsers these past few days (Opera, Firefox, Chrome, IE, etc) and they all present the issue.
Info about my computer:
Asus G73JH
6GB RAm
640GB Hard Drive
ATi Radeon 5870 Mobility
I would do a system restore, but mine only go back to 7/30, and I was having the issues back then as well.
Someone else suggested that explorer.exe is corrupted, but why doesn't the copying large amounts of text force a freeze in wordpad, versus a browser, if it's explorer.exe?
If anyone can offer help, I'd appreciate it. I'm usually good with this stuff, but I'm at a complete loss.
