Hello,
I'm having a problem over the 6 last months which periodically appears, disappears and appears again. Lately though it occurs extremely often which made me look for a solution. The problem is the following: at random times (for example, when Idling, when browsing, when launching Skyrim, when watching a video file) the monitors shut down. The show the "no signal" message and they go to sleep mode. The computer though doesn't shut. While I can't do anything (for example tried to pause a video with keyboard -didn't work) all the hardware on the case are still working (fans, drives etc). If there was a song playing while that happens, usually the song goes on for some time, then it stops. I want to mention at this point that only force shut down with the power button can alter this state, nothing else works. After I restart my system with the way i mentioned, 99% of the times, the same thing (the shutting down of monitors) will happen after the window logo is displayed at the start up screen. If i repeat the process and force shut down & restart it prompts me to the options of normal start up and diagnostic tools for start up. The diagnostic tools never find anything no matter how many times I run them. So I come again to the force shut down and restart. Sometimes it starts up normally, sometimes it repeats that problem. In the past it did it few times, lately 9/10 start ups fail, and in less than 1 hour of running the system it happens again. With some applications like Skyrim it does it every time at the 1st loading screen.
This is my system:
OS: windows 7 ultimate x64
CPU: i7 870 @2.93 (8 CPUs)
mobo: Gigabyte P55-UD3
ram: 6GB
PSU: PE-M600 (600 W)
GPU: Nvidia Geforce GTX285
It's custom made pc.
Also i want to mention, that there are no signs of overheating, both at gpu or cpu, measured the temps with several software, they are both around 50-60 Celcius at all times.
