I have a 1 TB external WD Hard Drive that has many files on it and has worked fine. A while back I got an error when I tried to access it that said, "You need to format the disk in drive F: before you can use it." F being the external drive. Any idea what may have happened to cause the drive to appear as unformatted? Any way to get to the data?
I am not as computer savvy as I was back in my dual 640K 5 1/4 floppy days with my eventual 10MB Hard Drive that I "would never fill up." I did look at manage disk in Windows 7 and it says it is working properly, but has 0 used and 0 available.
I can format it to see i it is usable, but am wondering if there may be a fix that saves any of the data. None of the data is critical, but would be really handy to have!
Thanks for any input!
