In my old laptop I had a 320GB hard drive. After my laptop stopped working, I took out the hard drive and have been using it with an Apricorn Sata-USB cord as an external HDD. It was working fine until it was knocked off the desk and hit the floor. Now I can't access the drive at all. My computer still recognizes it as a HDD, but when I try to open it, it says "Please insert a disk into Removable Disk (F)."

I'm using a dell laptop with Windows 7. I get the same results using a desktop with Windows XP. A defferent HDD works fine with the SATA wire, so I don't think it's an issue with the adapter. I've also tried connecting the HDD internally and booting the sustem with an Ubuntu liveCD. When trying to access the disk with Gparted, I think it gave me an IO Error... I'm not entirely sure, that was a while ago. There's a lot of important data on that drive that I don't want to lose...
