Asrock 939NF4G-SATA2 mobo. 4 slots
I've been running 2x1GB pc3200 ram made by different manufacturers - crucial and Kingston.
I've bought two further sticks of 1 GB crucial Ram (secondhand)
Any combination of two sticks works in any combination of slots.
So all slots seem ok and all sticks seem ok.
If I tried to add a third or fourth stick the system freezes.
So just trying to work out, if all three sticks of crucial are identical should they work as 3GB in total or can they only be used in pairs?
Secondly what constitutes a matching pair? The two I bought are both 1gb ddr 400 cl3. Is that enough or is there a similarity in the massively long serial number required as well?
Just need to know if I need to start from scratch and buy two matching pairs or whether I aready have a pair.
