time for upgrades

Greetings, I am having memory-related BSODs usually a few times a day, sometimes none, sometimes one. I've tried reinstalling Vista (it crashed during the install, making me start over, and finish reinstalling and transferring everything knowing it didn't work from the get-go :/), and replacing the RAM. I suspect the motherboard. Since I'm thinking of upgrading things for upcoming games like Watch Dogs, The Witcher 3 & Cyberpunk 2077 anyway, I figure it'll possibly have the side effect of fixing the cause of the BSODs. Below I've listed the parts I have, and what I'm considering getting. Please advise on compatibility, value, game system requirements, and whether they are, in fact, improvements.

Case: Coolermaster Cosmos S
Mobo: MSI P7N SLI Platinum (MS-7380) -> GIGABYTE GA-Z77-HD3 [114.98 (-10 rebate)]
RAM: 4gb ddr2 (2x2gb) -> 8gb ddr3 (1x8gb) [free with mobo]
CPU: E8400 -> i5-3470 [190.29, or 179.99 on a good day]
GPU: GTX260 -> GTX660 [194.99 (-20 rebate)], may wait on this one & get a GTX760 next year.
