Absolutely no response when pressing the power button

Hey,
My PC won't respond to any sort of power input at the moment (i.e. pressing the power button yields zero response. Usually my USB mouse lights up when connected, even if the PC itself is off but not anymore).

I've checked the wall socket (and have tried a few), checked the PSUs output setting and on switch, and made sure everything was plugged in properly. I did recently install a Soundblaster ZxR, but it was working fine for a couple of weeks between then and now.

I just wanted to confirm that it is likely a PSU problem rather than anything else, and what I could do to obtain a more accurate diagnosis. I don't have access to any other compatable PSUs (I have another with 4 rather than 8 pins for the CPU - sorry for my lack of technical jargon). There are no unusual smells/noises, and my only multimeter has a single prong.

My GPU is an HD6850, CPU is AMD Athlon II x4, motherboard is 870A-UD3. WD Hard Drive (it says WD10EARS on the sticker) and a Samsung BDDVD player too. The PSU is a 500W Cooler Master RS-500-PCAR-J3.

Thanks

Edit: Alright, turns out the PSU had in fact bust - the shop I took it to replaced it with a Widetech 750W PSU. Google says to upgrade immediately... How does the current PSU compare to the the original Cooler Master (in original post)?
