Multi-Bay Drive enclosure?

Hi,

I've thought of building a NAS recently as in a Home NAS with custom Computer Parts. The problem is that, I don't really have enough room to fit a Full ATX case, ( as I have a spot reserved for a small Nas Box in the corner of a room.) So what I want to do is have a separate enclosure to stack on top of that case, ( so the System takes up space in the Z direction and not the X * Y direction).

I know there are lots of Multi-Bay NAS Boxes out there, Problem is, they're NAS boxes and have more than just basic housing, IE: they include a chip or a board inside that allows it to control the 4 bays to be set for RAID and that raises the price by 90$-350$ from what I've seen.
I do not need that additional add on as I would have already built a nas Box for that purpose, (and do not have money to burn on a function that I would never use)
(Also, my reason for a custom nas built from computer parts is Flexibility and Options)

Also, I've seen some NAS boxes built with a USB 2.0 Out. Does that not bottleneck the transfer speed of their NAS boxes? This is why I would prefer a Enclosure for a USB 3.0 or thunderbolt.

I appologize for the long wording, just wondering if anyone would happen to know of a multi Bay Drive enclosure at around 70$ .Thanks in advance :D
