USB SHURE SM58 Recognised but no sound

Hi All,

I have a Shure SM58 which I used for gigging (wired and put through my Mixer desk - works fine) I have purchased FL studio because I want to record my vocals over tracks.

Maplin told me to buy a USB cable with a Mic adapter. (three pins) and just to plug it in... Which I have.

It reconises and installs the mic and I can choose it as an input but it doesnt seem to pick sound up, the sound bar doesnt move. I have checked the volume is up on the mic, but it catches nothing. Ive tried it in sound recorder too, but still nothing.

My cousin says it just sounds like some configuration is needed, can anyone help me?
