Alright. To start, this was this wonderful deal I've got into.
I traded a low build laptop (HP6910p) for a broken gaming PC with a alienware CPU liquid cooler, an I7 processor, a GTX 560, a 1000w alienware PSU, 9GB (3x2GB, 3x1GB) of 1066 RAM, and a full size HAF case.
The reason I could make this trade is because the computer is "broken". The basic problem is that the computer turns on for a few seconds, then shuts off. Its NOT the PSU, as I have tested the system with a 700 watt from my other computer and it still had the problem.
Now I am just trying to figure out this motherboard. The only two numbers I can find are e203413 and de0907, and it has the alienware symbol. I have never worked with Intel motherboards or processors, so this is a bit of a leap from me and AMD. So forgive me for not knowing much on this field.
The guy was clueless about his computer (he probably was who damaged it on accident.) He doesn't know the clock speed of the i7 processor, nor what kind it is, just that its i7. I have the computer now... And I couldn't begin to tell you how dusty it is. I've been cleaning it for awhile, so it shouldn't be a problem soon.
So here's my problem: I need help finding out what kind of motherboard this is and what kind of replacement I need. I tested for shorts between the case and the mobo and there doesn't seem to be any.
From the research I've done, I believe it is a motherboard out of an alienware aurora R1. I can post pictures as well, but this "child" has done the poorest wiring job I've ever seen considering the size of the case.
That being said, I traded a $100 laptop for a $1,000 desktop.
