I have a Dell Inspiron 530 Desktop with XP Home, 32-bit installed. With the ceasing of XP support by MS, I want to upgrade to Win 7.
I've run the Windows 7 upgrade adviser and it lists evaluation for both 32-bit and 64-bit upgrade. Does this mean I can install the 64-bit version? How can one determine whether the hardware is compatible with a 64-bit OS? I'd like to have the 64-bit version, but am unsure about compatibility.
Additionally, what if any, driver problems might I encounter with 64-bit. Any advice offered about this process are greatly appreciated.
BTW... My peripherals (printer, scanner, etc) are compatible with my Win 8, 64-bit laptop.
