Hi all..
wondering if someone can help me..
i have this funny issue that none of the USB drives on my pc are working as they should.
it wouldn't be right to say they don't work at all.. they do, but with issues...
Let me explain..
there are a total of 10 USBs on the machine..
4 of them that's a part of the motherboard & 2 that are on the cabinet.
i also have separate card with 4 USB ports
a few weeks back i started receiving the BSOD for BUGCODE_USB_DRIVER
i tried a lot of things with no success & decided to do a full format & re-install
after the re-install, i installed the latest MB drivers (xfx 650i ultra)
now i dont get the BSODs, but connecting anything to any of the USB ports kicks up problems..
For example, i do photography, so i need to shoot tethered.
there hasn't been any problem earlier, but now as sson as i connect, the software (digicam pro) hangs and till i remove the USB, the system is unusable.
I use a USB wireless adapter (Belkin) abd every 2 minutes or so, the icon in the status bar shows a cross..
upon troubleshooting, windows rectifies the problem by resetting & then after a minute or 2 its back to the same scenario
any flash drives that i connect hang abruptly, or are unable to be ejected..
incidentally, i tried installing win as well using a pen drive, but i was not able to.
The setup would start & the initial gathering info, downloading files etc took extremely long.. almost 20 minutes to come to the blue screen where keyboard & time zones are selected...
after reaching the 'extracting files' screen, an error would pop up saying, the files are not available.. check if read write enabled etc etc...
there is nothing on the PC at the moment except windows.. and all the manufacturer drivers are all up to date..
could this mean there is some hardware issue like the motherboard itself?
or is there something i can try to get these to work?
Not sure if this is related, but my graphics card (XFX radeon 5450) too throws up tons of BSODs when i install the ATI catalyst drivers
if not a BSOD, the screen flickers on & off, win throws a toast saying the graphics has crashed..
if i uninstall the ATI drivers, no more errors (with just the win7 drivers)
