The joys of ISA - Problems with installing ISA card on legacy Windows 98 system.

Greetings. :) First time posting here.

I recently brought out one of my old PC's out of mothballs, an etower 366is, with only an approximately 360mhz processor, just to give an idea of how old this thing is. The reason: I want to create a specialized gaming rig for DOS gaming.

Last time I used it, I had the ISA working fine; it had an ISA network card, and an ISA sound card, namely a Sound Blaster or comparable (I believe the latter). However, as soon as I powered it on, though the PC booted up fine, it no longer detected the sound card in Windows 98. Switching it with two other ISA sound cards (a genuine Sound Blaster AWE32 and a Sound Blaster Pro 2 [CT1600]), neither seemed to work, not being detected at all by Windows 98. I also tried changing IRQ, DMA, and I/O address, while also doing the same by moving jumpers to the corresponding positions on the sound card. I also changed the BIOS settings so that the IRQ and DMA channels were set to ISA mode for the ones with the sound card on it.

One thing I should note that one potential cause is that the computer's BIOS battery is pretty much (if not completely) dead, which means any BIOS settings I had beforehand are gone. It seems to remember them within the timeframe that I was testing the problem, but I need to change the battery for long term use. Another thing I should note that when I removed, and subsequently re-added the network card, it too stopped being detected by Windows 98, and I did try removing and re-adding the sound card drivers and using a variety of default types while doing so.

Anyway, I'm out of ideas, so I figured I'd go ask you guys on what you think, and what I may be missing. One thing I'm lacking is actual Windows 9x drivers for the Sound Blaster Pro 2; I found 3.1 and DOS drivers on the Creative website, but nothing for this OS. Any help would be appreciated. :)
