Hey guys, I've searched and searched the internet for a solution, but cannot find anything that works. My laptop's CD/DVD drive stopped reading all discs. When I put a disc in the drive, the indicator light blinks like normal. The drive even makes a whirring noise for a second. But it ends there. When I try to run the drive through My Computer, it says there is no disc.
What I've tried:
- uninstalling/re-installing driver
- updating driver (automatically and manually)
- disabling/enabling driver
- running lens cleaning disc (drive did not run at all)
- holding eject button through start-up (read that it worked for several people, no idea if it really does anything)
- checking the drive for physical obstructions (there was nothing out of the ordinary)
I can tell that the drive has the potential to run. It just seems as though something is keeping it from spinning and reading discs. I know my way around a computer, so as long as instructions are clear, feel free to ask questions and throw out some answers! Thank you!
