Hello, I own an Acer Aspire 5100 laptop with windows 7 installed. I have a problem where the hdd plugs in at. The hdd plugs into a connecter witch is part of the mother bored. The only way I can get it to run is if i tilt the laptop backwards and put a wii remote under it. as long as it doesn't move, it will work. So knowing i need a new connecter, I find a situation. I go myself a cord that i can plug my hdd into and plug it into the laptop via usb. I set the bios to first run the usb hard drive and second the boot manager. It worked.
As the "Starting Windows" screen was done loading, the screen when blue for a fraction of a second, then reset to the Acer logo screen at start up. I got a message about it wanting to run a Boot up repair. I did this and when it was done, the same thing happened. I put the hdd back into the laptop with it tiilted and it worked just fine. I put another hdd into the laptop with Windows 7 with the old hdd in the usb chord. I got the same result.
How can i get passed the "Starting Windows" screen when booting from the external hdd?
