Performance Issues

Hello, guys.

I've got a dual core APU processor from AMD, 6GB of RAM, and the GT 520 from Nvidia. I'm aware it isn't a high-end machine, but it's not an old one either. It's a PC from HP (a 2010 model or so) that I bought a year and a half ago.

I can't seem to run things like Source games for example at over 60 frames in crowded servers--especially in more detailed maps. (20 players total or around that). A lot of people have told me a machine like mine should have no problem with Source-based games, as they can be played on almost anything, but for some reason it does.

I doubt it is any type of malware as these performance issues have always been here. Even after full system scans and a lot of cleansing, so what could it be? Does having a VGA monitor connected to the DVI card with an adapter have anything to do with the matter? Cause that's what I have. What else can it be? Any advice?

Thank you.
