New hard drive not seeing CD drive

I'm trying to keep a Windows XP going. It is a Compaq Presatio S6300nx.

It was running really poorly after so many years so I decided to do a system restore. I used the 7 cd's I made for system restore when I first got the computer. Everything went well and on start up, it looked like it did on day one. I up graded to service pac3, installed all my software and I'm good to go.

This has a 40gb WD400 Caviar drive. It is not the origional in this computer.

I was just given a couple hard drives. A 80gb WD800 Caviar and a 60gb Maxtor DiamondMax16.
I figured I would run the 7 restore cd's in these and upgrade capacity and have a spare.
Everything went good with the restore. I did everything I did on the WD40. The only thing is that that on these 2 drives, the CD drive won't work. The CD drive does not show up in ‘my computer folder’. I swapped the hard drives a few times and only the WD400 works.
I looked in the device manager and the properties for this drive said this,

"Windows successfully loaded the device driver for this hardware but cannot find the hardware device. (Code 41)

Click Troubleshoot to start the troubleshooter for this device."

Any ideas why the CD drive can't be found with these drives. Hopefully it's something simple I'm missing.

Thanks
