Hi. I apologize if I posted this in the wrong category Im not sure if it belongs in the hardware or software category. I have only a basic knowledge of computers so the information I am providing will reflect that.
I have an HP Pavilion dv5 2074 laptop with Windows 7. My understanding is that this computer does not have built-in Bluetooth. I just bought a set of Kinivo BTH 240 headphones to use on my computer and I also had to buy a Bluetooth USB adaptor and chose Kinivo BTD-400. The installation guide for the adaptor instructs as follows: Please remove any previous version of Bluetooth software that may exist in your system. Then later, Step 3: Locate the program WIDCOMM or any other Bluetooth Software and remove it.
Ive been using a Logitech M325 mouse with the USB Bluetooth adaptor that was provided with it. I simply plugged the adaptor to a USB port and the mouse just started working immediately so I didnt need to do anything else. I cant find any Bluetooth software on my computer, including WIDCOMM or the types of software that Logitech uses (as indicated on their website) which are SetPoint, Flow Scroll and Logitech Unifying Software. Isnt it true that the Logitech mouse should have installed some type of Bluetooth software on my computer? If so, how can I find it?
I did go to services.msc on my computer and found Bluetooth Support Service. Isnt this a service installed by HP (there is no indication regarding who manufactured it or installed it)? Does having this service on my computer mean that I actually do have built in Bluetooth? This service should not be disabled, right?
If I try to install my Kinivo Bluetooth adaptor without first uninstalling Bluetooth software that the Logitech mouse should have installed, will this cause any problems with my computer? Do you recommend that I try doing that?
I bought this particular adaptor because a reviewer indicated that 3 devices can be connected to it, and I want to connect my Logitech mouse to it so I dont have to use 2 USB ports. Does Logitech block you from connecting its mouse to other brands of Bluetooth adaptors? Im asking because apparently their Bluetooth adaptor is proprietary so you cant use it for any other devices.
Any help will be greatly appreciated. Thank you in advance.
