I have a HP F2180 all -in-one. It prints correctly with only a colour cartridge but has lately decided it doesn't like having a black cartridge - the cartridge warning light flashes and it refuses to do anything. A replacement black cartridge makes no difference but it will work with a photo cartridge in place of the black one, albeit with odd colours. It has worked O.K. until recently, so it's nothing to do with the Linux Mint operating system, and in any case the warning light appears whether or not the computer is switched on. Cleaning the contacts in the cartridge carriage improved the problem only temporarily.
