This is sort of an odd question, let me explain. I have a 3TB Toshiba drive that I cannot get Windows 7 (even with GPT) to recognize as bigger than 746GB. It's in an external case that should be able to support 4TB drives.
I had it in a NAS that only supported 2tb drives, but I hadn't paid attention, and tried to format it (NAS appears to have a *nix OS). Of course, the format did not work. I am thinking that's maybe the problem, so decided to try a low-level format. The program is reporting that the drive is 801.56 GB, but has 1,565,565,872 sectors. Now, this is going to take a looong time to complete, so while I'm waiting, I'd thought I'd ask:
Based on the number of sectors (which seems large for an 800GB drive), will I have a 3TB drive when the low level format completes?
