[Amazon] Brother Printer MFCJ450DW
[Brother USA] Brother MFC-J450DW
=======================================================
Here's what happened. My family and I are looking for a new printer, and we're tired of being scammed by either cheap pieces of crap that don't last a year, or reliable printers with proprietary and/or expensive ink replacements. We initially set out to find a laser printer, and I found a really nice one, but it was monochrome. I am the only one who was fine with it. Everyone else said "COLOR ONLY!" pretty much unanimously.
That quickly ruled out laser printers, since I found it impossible to find a reliable, color laser printer with low operating costs within our measly budget of $200. I'm the only tech-minded person in the family, and I just can't get anyone on board with the idea of buying a more expensive and reliable product up front for years of savings down the line. That puts me in a very tight spot.
I eventually found these Brother Work Smart All-in-ones, and they have some of the highest reviews on Amazon. We chose the MFC-J870DW over the MFC-J450DW simply because it is the "higher model" and they're the same price on Amazon. However, I noticed this morning that they are so similar, and we were looking at both of them, that I accidentally purchased the MFC-J450DW instead.
We all literally could not care less about the MFC-J870DW's touch screen and smartphone NFC printing capabilities. Apart from that, they both look like they are pretty much the same printer. They have the same paper capacity, use the same ink, both have the scanner and ADF. Is there anything that the MFC-J870DW has that the MFC-J450DW doesn't? Should we go through the trouble of exchanging the printers because of any features we missed?
tl;dr - We basically just want to know if the printer we accidentally ordered is in any way inferior to the one we meant to order, aside from the touchscreen and NFC printing.
