Monitor stops working after awhile.

So my computer has Windows 7 and is a gaming computer. The thing is that it sometimes shuts off randomly when I am running too many things at once. This is where it gets bad. I turn it back on and the monitor still works perfectly fine. I make the computer go to sleep and turn the monitor off for the night. I get home later to play some games to find out my monitor says it has no signal. I made sure everything was plugged in, and they were, so I ended up getting a new monitor thinking mine just broke of being old. This is a brand new monitor, it's working, then my computer shuts off randomly while doing an AVG virus scan and playing minecraft. I turn it back on, and the monitor still works. I then let my computer sleep and turn off my monitor, so I can go to my friend's house for the super bowl. I come back later to look at some stuff, but then my monitor says "No signal." This is the same thing that happened to my old monitor, so it has to be the computer. Right? I hope someone can help me because I don't want to go and pay for a new one when my friend's dad made this specifically for gaming for me.
