Hello ,
My second computer is a Dell Win XP Service Pack 3 DellDimension 8300, Pentium 4 CPU 2.66 GHz 1.5 GB RAM. I need this computer to run some programs that are not compatible with Win 7 (my main computer).
As I work with graphics, the video card is important to run the programs.
2 weeks ago, I tried to install iTunes (the connection with the store, I am not sure if this is related or not) but I wasn’t able to and I received an error message). I stopped the process and restarted the computer: the computer restarted normally, however the monitor showed a black screen (nothing at al,l no initial message). If I disconnected the Monitor Video cable, the monitor showed the “No Signal” message, which disappeared as soon asI plugged the monitor cable again.
I removed the video card (ATI HIS Radeon HD 2600XT IceQTurbo AGP H26XQT512AN - brand HIS Digital) and installed a (very old) NVidia GEFORCE4 MX 4000 128 Mb. All worked fine again. Then, I reinstalled the ATI HIS card againand surprisingly all worked as it was, only during one week. Then last week without any special event, the problem reappeared: as I attempted to start the computer, it was working fine but the monitor showed a black screen. I tried the trick uninstall - install again, but this time didn't work
I checked for solutions on the web, and tried all the tips that I found: checked cmos battery, removed Ram and reinstalled back but nothing solved my problem.
Due the AGP connection type of the ATI video card, I wasn’table to test it in other computer.
Any solution would be greatly appreciated. Thank you in advance.
