Power Options?

Hi there,

1. I have an old Dell XPS 1710 laptop, with nvidia 256 MB video card, 320 GB WD Scorpio 72K HDD, which over there years have burnt 3 times. Why is nvidia video card so frail to burn 3 times?

2. Now I got a usb cooler fan attached to it & is doing fine.

My question is in ideally what should be the power options for " on battery", " plugged" & in " Change power advanced power settings" ?
