Should I format my SSD hard drive?

I have an SSD drive
Every month I reset my Windows 8 installation and reinstate an image I have of a fresh install
(It's a pain - but means that I have a super fresh laptop every month that is virus and worry free)
The last time I did this... I got errors reported on the hard drive that had to be fixed
So... should I format my hard drive before I reinstate the image?
