When I try to turn my laptop on, the lights will turn on and the fan will run but nothing appear on screen. Before this happened, the laptop was working fine but suddenly froze. I had to hold the power button for a few seconds to turn it off. I read that cycling the power worked for some people but it doesn't work for me.
The laptop is a gateway LT22 and is about 3 years old so I'm not sure if it's hardware failure. One thing I'd like to note is that when I turn off the laptop, I just need to press the button (rather than hold it for a few seconds). I just noticed that if I leave it in for about 1 minute, the fan will begin to speed up.
Any suggestions?
