I'm new to this site, and I would like to know if it's possible to turn a laptop into a desktop? I have a Samsung SF-511 and the screen broke a while back. I spilled water on the keyboard the night before so I thought even if the "fix" didn't work, it would be broke anyway. I figured the repair costs/screen replacement would be outrageous considering the laptop isn't that great anyway. I managed to remove the screen and reroute the wireless connectivity wires (stuff inside) into the bottom portion of the laptop. I hooked up an HDMI from the laptop to the TV, bought a wireless mouse and keyboard and have been using it like this for a while. I'm happy with the way it turned out, especially for not being experienced in this kind of stuff.
Since the laptop's keyboard broke and there isn't a screen, I thought it kind of looked silly having half a laptop sitting in the corner. I was thinking about turning it into a desktop. Since it no longer has a screen, wouldn't need the keyboard or track pad assembly, and I don't use the disk drive ever, I was thinking about removing all that and organizing what's left into a smaller and more compact space, and making a plexiglass or metal case for it. I wouldn't know how to go about this or if it's even possible (I haven't found ANYTHING like this on the internet) and I was wondering if anyone could help? Thanks!
