I have a Compaq Presario model F750us with Vista home O.S. When I turn it on, it stays on only about one second! The Synaptic indicator light and the wireless adapter light come on, but that's about it. The power then turns off. I interpret this to imply the BIOS is defective. Not surprisingly, removal of the hard drive has no effect on the reaction to turning on the cptr. I then removed one of the circuitry cards and again the response to pressing the start button was not changed. I then removed another card (there are only two which are relatively easy to remove) hoping that either of the two cards removed would contain the BIOS circuitry. Unfortunately, with both cards removed (as well as the hard drive) the cptr still responded exactly as before.
SO, my question is: WHERE is the circuit -or perhaps simply a chip- which contains the BIOS?
