AMD Drivers suddenly giving problem on Windows 7

AMD HD6770M + Intel 3000 switchable graphics

Here's the deal:
I had a good proper working installation of Windows 7 on this laptop with my graphics working properly.

I did the mistake of installing Windows 8.1, and my hunt of finding working graphics drivers for it. I tried HP drivers for the same hardware (since my laptop has been officially supported till Win7 only). I tried Leshcat Labs drivers, various versions. But each of these gave me problems, some crashed my games (mainly FIFA), some froze, some gave me artifacts on screen in Windows.

So i gave up, and installed Windows 7 back with official HP Win7 graphics drivers. I ran my laptop in DYNAMIC switching mode, and it worked properly. Then I tried to run FIFA, but it froze at the team selection screen (just like in Win 8.1).
I restarted my laptop in FIXED switching mode and then my Windows login screen had various artifacts and the login screen wallpaper was all glitchy. The text box didnt work (sorry it's tough to describe).
Then I restarted my computer and it was stuck at the Windows splash screen in both FIXED and DYNAMIC mode. As soon as I uninstall my drivers in safe mode I can get past the login screen again.

One more thing is, that my driver installation (via HP official or Leshcat) always has 'warning' status on completion. If I check the log, ALL components including the Display Driver say 'successful'. Usually when i got a 'warning', the display driver installation used to be 'unsuccessful' and a simple installation of Visual C++ redist fixed it. But here all components show 'completed' but I still get a warning. I've tried cleaning with Driver Fusion and reinstalling drivers, but I still get stuck at the Windows splash screen after I reboot.

I just want to diagnose what might be happening. I've never had this sort of problem with Windows 7! And I don't really know how to narrow this problem down. Any help!
