Lately I've been getting constant CPU spikes, sometimes up to 100% just from having a few tabs open in Firefox. The reason I'm posting this here instead of in the malware section is because before this started happening I was having another hardware problem.
I have two RAM sticks and I realized that only one of them was working when the computer detected half the amount of RAM it should. I changed the configuration of the memory sticks and it seemed that one of the slots itself was causing the problem since both of them worked after.
So when this CPU issue started happening a day or two after I solved the RAM problem it made me wonder if this is a hardware issue of some kind.
Here are the computer specs:
windows xp x64, service pack 2
intel e8400 duel core, 3ghz
Geforce 560 Ti
4GB ram
