Hi, I got new memory for my motherboard recently. I used Crucial to make sure my motherboard could handle the new memory and I chose one of the ones recommended for my computer by Crucial. I got the new 4GB (on the invoice it says it's a 4GB DDR3 - 1600 UDIMM 1.5v memory card, not sure if any of those numbers or letters mean anything) memory in the mail, took the old one out, put the new one in the first slot on its own and started up the computer.
I could hear the hard drive trying to do something but then just give up. The monitor reads "No PC Input" and that's it. Nothing else happens.
Off and back on again, I try a different slot, and it doesn't work. I put the old one back in and everything starts up perfectly.
I phoned up the company I purchased it from who checked on their end that the card was compatible, suggest I try a few things (though I'd already tried them) before agreeing the card was dead. I asked for a replacement so they sent me one.
Now this replacement does the exact same thing. No matter what slot it's in the computer won't boot. Now, I did make sure it was clicked in properly, I originally used Crucial's instructions on installing memory so I shouldn't have done anything wron, especially not twice in a row.
I'm doubting this time that the memory card is faulty again, though it's not impossible I would like to make absolutely certain there isn't something else I can try before I call them back up for a refund. Any suggestions?
