Hi! My brother's been having problems with his computer lately. He said that when it started, the icons were gigantic, then he'd reboot, and the icons would appear normal size. Also, he said there were times when the computer froze, and also a few times the screen would go black. I booted it up, and got the gihugic icons. I went to device manager and looked at the video card. It's a Nvidia 8400 gs. His os is windows 7 with an AMD quad-core, gigabyte board, and 4 gbs of memory. I looked at the properties, and this was the message:
Windows has stopped this device because it has reported problems. (Code 43)
So I did a google for code 43, and it says it doesn't know why, but it seems to be a corrupted driver file. So I downloaded Slimdrivers, and it found the driver and installed it. It rebooted---voila, everything seemed to be fine. I ccleaned it and defragged it. After I finished defragging, I checked the device manager again. Suddenly, the screen went black with a message that there was no signal. What's happening? Is it a bad video card? Could there be something wrong with the power supply or the board? Any and all responses will be greatly appreciated. Thanks.
