Constant crashes from games please help

Hi guys,

I have been having occasional crashes where my monitor goes black and my PC stops responding, sometimes with a loud continuous noise, since I built it.

They have always occurred while playing some kind of game. At first I assumed it was because I was using a faulty HDMI cable with my TV.

Then I figured it must be my on-board Intel graphics because I resorted to using a VGA LCD monitor instead of HDMI through the graphics card. I have used this setup for many months, with only tolerable occasional crashes while playing games.

Yesterday I found a DCI-I to VGA adapter and switched to using my Radeon HD7850. I now crash a few seconds after entering a server in Team Fortress 2 or Counter Strike Source. CS:S video stress test also crashes me. Minecraft has never crashed me.

Here are my specs:

These are my latest Event Viewer errors since waking up. I tried to enter a Counterstrike: Source server which caused a crash. I have googled many of these errors myself to no avail.

Over the last 24 hours I have:
  • Updated my ASUS BIOS
  • Updated the Intel HD 4000 driver
  • Updated the Radeon HD7850 driver
  • Updated to .NET 4.0
  • Updated Adobe Flash player
  • Ran Intel Processor Diagnostic Tool
  • Ran Windows Experience Index (7.5 rating)
  • Ran AVG, Malwarebyte's Anti-Walware, CCleaner
  • Tried turning processor VCore up to 1.25 from around 1.1
  • Ran some windows troubleshooting programs related to not having a Windows Update service in Services.msc (prevented me from updating .NET). That is fixed now.

At this point I am at my wit's end. The WHEA errors might hint towards some kind of processor instability, but it passes Intel Processor Diag Tool fine and many overclocker forums say not to worry about them. Not that I have anything overclocked.

Overheating is almost certainly not the problem. I see this suggested as a cause on many of the forums I have browsed for similar problems, I have 3 case fans and a massive ridiculous CPU cooler with 2 fans and a huge heatsink. It is also winter here atm. Unless there is a bubble of air in the thermal paste, at this point I am sure temperature is not the problem.

Thank you in advance for even bothering to read this, it blows my mind that people offer their help to noobs like me :)

I'll be checking the thread frequently, thank you again. :)
