My desktop (using Windows XP) has recently been having a daily issue where Firefox won't open (in fact, is closed after I had left it open), and hitting ctrl+alt+delete gives me the error 0xc0000017 (essentially the same exact symptoms as in this thread: http://forums.techguy.org/windows-xp...xc0000017.html), so I have to restart my PC to "fix" it.
I ran memtest86 and obtained this result: http://postimg.org/image/c9611k0o3/
So I'm just going to go ahead and get some new RAM. I couldn't find the exact same chip in stock anymore, so my question is what things do I have to check to ensure compatibility? My current RAM, according to SiSoftware Sandra, is 2x Corsair CM2X1024-6400C4 1GB DIMM DDR2 PC2-6400U DDR2-800. Do I just have to make sure it's DDR2 800MHz? Would 2 of these work? http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16820134922 And do I need to do anything to warn Windows I'm installing different memory, or just open up the computer and stick 'em in?
I apologize if this sort of info is attainable somewhere obvious, and thanks in advance.
