My computer MB is Intel 845GV and I use Windows XP OS.
When I check the device manager in the System, for the following devices all located within the "Intel 82801DB LPC interface controller 24C0" the DM reports - "No drivers are installed for this device."
1. DMA controller
2. Intel 80802 Firmware Hub controller
3. Motherboard resources (2 times)
4. Numeric Data Processor
5. Programmable Interrupt Controller
6. System Speaker
7. System Timer
But for the "Intel 82801DB LPC interface controller 24C0" itself, the DM reports - This device is working properly.
But for all other device connected within Intel 82801DB LPC interface controller 24C0 like keyboard, mouse, Com1, LPT1, ISAPNP Port are reported to be working fine ie - " This device is working properly"
Also, for another device located within PCI bus - Intel 82801DB/DBM SM Bus controller 24C3, the DM reports - "No drivers are installed for this device".
Same "no drivers are installed for this device" message for "System Board".
All other device are reported working fine including "Ultra ATA controller" and primary and secondary IDE channel.
So, this isn't normal. Also, I reinstalled the Operating System several times but still the situation is the same.
ALso, about the symptoms, there is one problem I am encountering whose cause could not be identified. Whenever I connect a Ultra DMA supporting DVD Drive (either 1 or 2) to the Secondary IDE slot on the MB, the OS won't load. It freezes while loading. Only when I manually change the transfer mode for this device to the slower MWDMA or PIO mode in the BIOS then only the OS load normally. AS for the HDD, the HDD works in UDMA mode (HDD uses UDMA mode 2) or PIO mode but only single HDD works. But if I connect 2 HDD to secondary IDE slot, the OS won't load at all. I only get a blank screen. This does not happen in the Primary IDE slot.
So, Is a H/W component got damaged? So, could you identify it? Is it possible that this 82801DB LPC interface controller got partly damaged and therfore some devices connected to it are working while some are not working. IS this 82801DB LPC the same as ICH4 and the south bridge?
Also, is there a utility which can report exact damaged component if a MB component has got damaged?
Please Help
