Whenever I press the E or D keys on my keyboard, it prints out ED. This was very sudden, it happened in the middle of typing. I've never spilt anything on this keyboard, and it's only a few months old... I'm using a laptop as well with windows 10. If anyone could help that'd be greatly appreciated!

PC turns on in friends house but not in mine
when i press the power button the pc will not load up bios, no beeps no fan sounds nothing. the keyboard i plugged in is turned on so idk what is the problem
-Power Supply is good, i swapped it with another one and still makes the same problem

Learning to Make Backups
I am completely overwhelmed. I have read a lot here and elsewhere about backups, images, and clones. I decided today to give it a go.
I have a free copy of Macrium Reflect on the computer that I was going to use.
It started out well. I was first advised to create a Recovery CD. I did that and have no reason to believe that it won't work. I then set out to do the backup. The process began but then, again a few minutes, it stopped - declaring it had run out of space, I inserted a new CD and it appeared to be progressing from where it stopped. This happened still again and then again restarted with a third CD.
It now appears to have finished with only an error about indexing caused by having to rename.
Do I have a back up or do I not.
I sorta have a hunch that I cannot do a backup to a CD because of the space limitation. Am I right or wrong.
SECOND QUESTION (only slightly related)
I have an external hard drive that has a lot of data on it but there is also about 100GB of free space.
Can I backup to that hard drive without endangering the data that is already there and if I do, will that HD then function successfully as both a repository for data as well as a backup location.

Gpu help
My pavilion slimline intel pentium desktop is very slow with some games even though it has 8gb ram so im thinking that intel graphics on it isnt to good with games. I want a ndivia graphics card but i dont know what is compatible with it. Can somone give me sugguestions on which ndivia card I should get? It may be the proccesor but the games req of the processor isnt to high so it must be the gpu! Hp pavilion slimline 400pc series model no. 400~434.

Turn on the power to the pc and must turn off and on maybe 12 to 15 times before it will load and give me a screen that I can use. Do I need to buy a new pc?

Hello, my name is Nathan. I recently installed a ASUS Micro ATX DDR3 2000 AMD AM3+ motherboard and the monitor cable and the keyboard ports won't work. It turns on and the mouse does but not the monitor or the keyboard works. I tried a new keyboard and a cable for the monitor but it doesn't work.

dimension desktop does not allow dvd to boot system
I am trying to install Windows 7 on an old dimension 4600 running XP with 2gb ram. It has a cd drive and a dvd which shows up in bios as primary and slave respectively. I cannot get the dvd to boot my Windows dvd. The bios version has been updated from A03 - a12. ...I installed a usb dvd external drive and usb boot is not an option in bios. I removed the ribbon from the cd and plugged it into the dvd and it lights up on boot but cannot find it. It then reverts back to the xp boot. I have replaced the dvd with another know good one with same results. What should I do?

Time To Replace. Need Help!
I have had absolutely no issues with my current CPU and video card in the 3yrs or so that I have had them. Sadly they are just getting outdated, things are slowing down and there is better hardware out there. Computer peripherals keep breaking/cutting out.
Hello,
Since about 4 months ago I've been having a constant issue with my computer. I would be playing a game (dirty bomb, csgo, arma, runescape) and randomly my mouse and keyboard will lose power and the lights will start flashing. The only solution I've found after this point is restarting the computer. My mouse also randomly drops out every now and again.
Any solutions will be greatly appreciated. :)

Not your typical Acer aspire 7551-7442 Black Screen
So I'm running an Acer Aspire 7551-7442 with Windows 7 Home Premium installed. The processor is an AMD .2 GHz Phenom II X4 Quad-Core N970 and the GPU is an ATI Radeon HD 4250. I've had this computer since 2011 now and minus a few hiccups it's run beautifully. Lately I've been having a problem where horizontal black and white lines would cover the screen which I assumed was from overheating so I would let it sit and after a while it would start working normally again. The most recent time it happened no image showed up. No Bios menu, no safe mode option, no Windows logo. But if I let it sit I can hear the start up noise for the login screen, along with the welcome noise if I press enter and login from memory. Anyone have experience with this sort of problem? Is there anything I can do?

Unusually low FPS on games
On my laptop Lenovo G570 my brother is playing Minecraft. About a month ago he had over 60 FPS on it. 2 weeks later, he had 30 FPS feeling like 60. Another 2 weeks later he got 10-20 feeling 2-5. What to do? This is so wierd! I tried reinstalling video driver, Minecraft, installing Optifine, but nothing worked!! Help!

Need Suggestions For Computer Build-Up
Hi Everyone,
I have a desktop computer with the first generation Intel I5 CPU that is getting long in the tooth and I am looking around to replace it however I am on a bit of a tight budget. I do a lot of video streaming (off the internet, Netflix, etc) plus I use Adobe Photoshop to work with large image files and I also use Adobe Premier to do video rendering. In my price range I know I am going to get integrated video and for the short term I can be OK with that since I will be putting in a dual head video card to use dual monitors.
The new Intel I5 computers appear to be a little over my budget and what I am hearing about the Intel I3 CPU's they seem to be a little blaise' and pedestrian so I am looking at the AMD CPU's. I don't think the A4 will meet my needs so that leaves the A6, A8, A10 and FX. From what I understand the A6, A8, and A10 are similar quad core CPU's but AMD puts multiple cores into the video. And then there is always the AMD FX CPU but I know the FX has been around forever. If I get an FX CPU it will definitely be the 64 bit variety.
My budget is in the $200 to $300 range, plus approx $75 for an OS and I am looking at bare bones kits to get me up and running and them I will add on as I go and as I have the need. I am interested in any opinions that anyone would like to share with me and please keep it simple. Thanks.

Dell Inspiron 3520 won't recognize charger off and on
I've had this issue for some time it fixed itself long enough for the warranty to expire. The light on the adapter went out so I purchased a new one that kept it charging for several more months. Now it will not charge. It works without the battery in. I also recently replaced the DC power Jack thinking that could be the issue. However I still have the same problem so it must be something else. I am hoping you can help!

Solved: Compliant with Serial ATA 3.0 or 1.0 standard
I have recently purchased two hard drives (WD Black Max 1 Tb 1003FZEX ) and one solid state drive (Samsung 850 Pro 128 GB), that states they have Sata 6 Gb/s capability. I ordered some molex to sata power connectors to provide power to the drives, in which the furnished power will be coming directly from the PSU. My problem/question is that I bought these molex connectors from a website, which gave a choice between two molex connectors, from the same manufacture and looked exactly the same, with the only difference, that I could see, is that one connector states 3.0 ATA compliant and the other states 1.0 compliant. I purchased the ones that said 3.0 compliant, which costs more that twice the amount of the connectors with 1.0 compliance. I have waited over two weeks for the connectors, which is another story, and when I finally got them, they were not in any kind of retail package, which might state there specification/compliance. The plastic bag has a label on them marked D112 and that's it. The wires on the connectors are 18 AWG. Can anyone tell me is there such a thing as molex connectors that are 1.0 compliant versus 3.0 compliant.I guess I could understand being rooked on the the same kind of parts from different websites, but not he same website. You would think there is a difference between the connectors, as they are on the same website.They both have the same model number as, SATAPOWADAP, but I figured that the one (1.0 compliant) was the ones that were left over from years ago and the new ones were the 3.0 compliant ones.The following are the links to the two connectors:

New Computer
I have an older model Dell laptop, about 8 years or so, and wanting to upgrade. A friend is pushing me toward buying an HP pavilion laptop and I know this is a terrific computer, but wanted to hear from the experts on why I should/should not purchase another Dell.

My spare Dell OptiPlex 780 MiniTower has a Dell 0C27VV motherboard (see below thumbnail).
The top 2 SATA ports are blue and black.
The bottom 2 SATA ports are white and black.
The original hard drive is connected to the dark blue port.
The original disc drive is connected to the bottom white port.
I plan to install a second hard drive and run a different Windows version in each one.
I'm not sure if I need to connect it to the top or bottom black port.

Can you also advise how to determine their number sequence?

Help me get printer going??? Canon MP480
I downloaded drivers for my Canon MP480 printer and printer shows up on my computer but when I try and run a test page.. it won't. On the actual printer it is saying "Incompatible device detected. Remove the device." I've removed the printer, went to Canon site and downloaded drivers for this printer..saved it on Desktop, unplugged printer from PC... opened drivers then plugged printer cord in PC and plugged it up...still same problem...HELP????? My Operating system Windows 8.1... 64 bit....I have no disk with the printer...also says "printer not responding"

New video card not detected
I recently bought an ASUS Radeon R7 240 and replaced my old Gigabyte GeForce 630. When I connect my monitor to the board it does not detect it. Windows starts, video card starts, everything is fine exept my monitor. So, I used the integrated Intel HD Graphics. I installed the drivers for the card and it still does not detect my monitor. Wierdly, the video card isn't detected by Windows(7). Help! I hate Intel HD Graphics! It's so weak

Samsung printer quit working.
I have a Samsung Xpress M2070 Laser printer. It is only about two months old. It still has the starter cartridge in it, I have only printed maybe 50 pages wit it. I had a power failure yesterday. After power was restored I get a error message C2-1711 call for service. "An unexpected failure has occurred from CRUM chip at the imaging unit. A service is required if the problem persist. Printing has stopped, all other machine services (if installed) are unaffected.

Upgrading my computer.
I have a PC that i built a little while ago. I want to upgrade the PC to make it faster. I plan on changing the motherboard and CPU. I am also changing things such as the power supply and RAM but i dont think that matters. I was wondering what would be easier, doing a clean install of windows or trying to do it without a clean install. If it is easier to do a clean install how to i reactivate windows? Will it tell me my product key has already been used or will it not ask me for a product key?

Which fan position is better?
Those in red text are the fans that are already in my casing CM 690 II Advanced
Those in blue text are the 120mm fans I intend to add for air intake into casing. I intend to add either 1 or 2 fans.
1) Is adding a 120mm fan to A or B better?
2) Is adding two 120mm fans to A and C better? or A and B better?

I have a question. Its about the multifunctional printer, by brother440cn. It has a port in it for a pny card, can you download that card from the printer directly into your computer? or only print from the dny card in the printer, to paper? this was my mom's machine and she's passed away, so i can't ask her, and my dad don't even know how to turn a computer on. thanks, Zoey

Weird Boot Up (Battery Issue?)
Hello. I am having some frustrating issues with PC boot up. The mobo is Intel DB65AL.
Here's what's happening:
Anyway I'm on an integrated GPU right now. After reboot I heard some sound in the case and was greeted with a message in BIOS: "CMOS battery failure". However PC would still boot up normally after that. I then tried to re-seat the battery. It is pretty loose, but I don't remember how loose it was before it was first taken out by my friend. Didn't help. In fact, things got worse. PC would start itself as soon as the PSU gets power, without me even touching the PC's power button. I replaced the battery but that changed nothing. I then put some electric tape on so the battery wouldn't be so loose in the CMOS slot. Not receiving the "CMOS battery failure" anymore, can confirm the battery works and PC doesn't automatically turn on as soon as it receives power, but the issue in the enumerated list above remains.
Anything I could try to resolve this? I've restored BIOS to defaults, tried re-seating/re-taping the battery a few more times but to no avail.
Here's what's happening:
- Pressing the power button, I can see PC parts turn on, fans are spinning and all, however it takes ~10 seconds (monitor's LED is blinking as if it's not receiving anything) for it to actually start booting up and the BIOS UI to appear.
- After it boots up, there is no internet connection.
- Restarting the PC, it again takes ~10 seconds to start booting up.
- Halfway there PC restarts itself.
- ~10 second wait. PC finally boots up, there's internet connection and everything's fine.
- Shutting down the PC brings me back to point 1, restarting - to point 3.

weird problem
hi guys need some help for a very weird situation
basically it goes like this
I have a dell xps system running for 14 months with a gtx 660 graphics card I update the o/s to win 10 a week later it blocks my network card
so after lots of failed driver swaps I rolled back to 8.1
when this completed it screwed up my security certificates so after many failed fixes I did a system refresh
on starting this process my screen went black and never came back on
I tried 3 other graphics cards ie 570ti 460 gtx both require aux power both failed
the system didn't even boot to post screen
I then tried a gt 635 which only draws power from the pci/e slot and it works
I try the other cards all 3 the gtx 460 gtx 660 and 570ti in a different system all the cards work fine.
so I retry them in the dell xps and again nothing no video and no post screen
I swap back to the gt635 and the system is fine.
I had a friend check the 6 pin connectors with a multimeter it says they were powered at 12v
anyone else had this problem or any idea as to what it may be I am completely out of idea's

128gb only reading 32gb
Ok so I tried to create a recovery on my usb (toshiba 3.0 128gb <pretty sure it's 128gb and not fake) after formatting for the recovery media and failing to do what i wanted to do I was going to use the usb as usual until i noticed it only read 32gb I googled and found a forum on here (http://geekdrop.com/content/how-to-f...-or-in-general) and tried the command prompt for formatting but got a message something about partition not found! Would really appreciate any help offered! Please and thank you!

Laptop will not connect to second monitor via HDMI
Hey, I'm going to be headed off to college soon, and I'm switching from my old desktop to a new Razer Blade 2014, I am planning on still bringing my 2nd monitor to college and want to use it in my dorm room, My Monitor does not have a HDMI, but that is the only port on my Laptop. I thought this would be simple, because I was already running a HDMI to DVI-D on my desktop to my GTX 770 graphics card. While connected to my desktop, the monitor works normally. When I plug it into my laptop, I get nothing in response, The laptop will not detect the Monitor in screen resolution or in control panel. My monitor is a LG Flatron and my laptop is the Razer Blade 2014. I don't understand why it doesn't just plug and play like it did on my PC. Any help? Also, I am on windows 10 but the problem happened on Windows 8.1 aswell

Problem with Nvidia drivers on my laptop
So I bought an X550LB Asus laptop little over a year and half ago from Newegg. It was basically a really good budget gaming laptop on sale. I wish I had paid more attention to how much trouble Windows 8 and Nvidia Optimus has.
So my laptop specs is as follows:
Intel Core i5-4200U
8GB ram
Windows 8 64-bit
Intel graphics w/ Nvidia GT 740M
So about 6 months ago the laptop starts going crazy with random BSODs, etc. It seems very much that Windows 8 and Nvidia Optimus coupled with Asus are very incompatible with each other. I kept getting where I would get a black screen w/ a mouse cursor on windows start up. Or where the black screen would blink in and out. It basically looked like a video driver issue.
I'm not sure if the video is going out or what. So, two nights ago, the laptop crashed hard while I was playing Path of Exile. I couldn't get back into Windows minus Safe Mode. This isn't the first time either. I'm plagued by random freezes, etc. I've had to reset/reinstall before using the Asus recovery that's within the hard drive.
So this time I refreshed instead of reinstalling. I'm not sure if it's different. To me it looks like it basically reinstalls everything, but keeps your old files. Anyway, I did that and it seems like my laptop isn't using the Nvidia card for games anymore. There's a noticeable fps lag when I play. I can't even get the Nvidia control panel to come up.
Here's what I've tried to fix this problem:
1) Uninstall graphic drivers, go into safe mode, use display driver uninstaller on Nvidia in safe mode, reboot, installed latest drivers from Nvidia. This ended up with a black screen going on and off. The only way I could get back in was to go to safe mode and disable the Intel graphics card. After I boot normally, I see that the device manager is saying that the Nvidia card is disabled with a code 43.
2) I did the steps mentioned above, but installed the older drivers available from the Asus website. Installation goes fine, I can boot into Windows no problem. Except, I still can't access the Nvidia Control Panel. It gives me "the Nvidia display settings are not available. You are not currently using a display attached to an NVIDIA GPU." In the Device Manager, it sees the card though and is working properly.
So honestly, I'm not sure what else to do. Should I have reinstalled completely instead? I should mention that I was forced to update to Windows 8,1(It updated by itself, I had no choice in the matter), and the problems practically doubled. I mean, CS6 wouldn't even run correctly cause of the dual graphics card which is a known issue that has yet to have a proper fix.
Another question though, this isn't as important, but I'm assuming that since I can't get the control panel to show up, that the Nvidia Optimus that's supposed to be there isn't installed, properly or something. Which means it's never going to use that card correct? Is the card dead or something?

Network printer not printing
I have a HP LaserJet P2015 Series network printer. It has been printing fine until this afternoon it stopped printing. When I pinged its IP it "Requested time out". The printer is on and also the network lights are on from where the network cable is connected to the printer. When I re-booted the printer, it comes backs on line (pinged IP replies) and then after a minute or so goes off line again (Request Time Out).

Might a Video Card fix this
I have an ACER AM3100-U3300A that suddenly won't work with any monitor. Totally black screen from the time I turn it on. The monitors I have tried, work fine with other computers. Might a new video card fix this or is there any way to tell with this little of information?
If a video card will fix it, I have to keep it cheap. All I need it to do is be able to use the Internet and type a letter now and then. No games or anything that requires anything much. I bought one from Ebay thinking I had picked the right thing, but it turns out it is the wrong size PCI slot so would appreciate if someone could tell me how to choose one.

Ethernet card
I need to order an Ethernet card for my parents - they have an Acer M3470G - Windows 7 - emachine. Lightning took out the one they had and it was integrated into the motherboard. I ordered one on line (TRENDnet 10/100Mbps PCI Adapter TE100-PCIWN) but when it arrived, it didn't fit. How can I find and order a compatible one? (PS I am not that computer savvy & they don't live in the same town so I have to have it shipped to them and someone else has to install it.). I'm flying blind here. I do have a picture of the slot it would plug into.

SSD to replace HDD on laptop
I'm looking to purchase an SSD for my laptop as the primary drive.
CPU is: Intel® Core™ i7-4710MQ Processor ( 6MB L3 Cache, 2.50GHz)
The current hard-drive I have is a 1TB (7200 RPM) Western Digital SATA2 Hard-Drive. Will most likely turn this one into the storage drive.
Does anyone have any suggestions?
I'm also thinking of getting another HDD to have a mirror image of what will be on the SSD in case something goes wrong, so any suggestions for a back up HDD will also be appreciated!

replacing dieing harddrive on a laptop
I have a HP Pavillion dv6626us laptop with a Core Duo 5250 1.5 GHZ in it---
my Vista hard drive is dieing.
I have ordered a replacement SSD to put in it.
my question is--how will this laptop run if I install windows 8.1 on it ?? it only has intergrated graphics
on my laptop. will it run at all or crash all the time with 8.1.
would Windows 7 be a better option for it ????

Long time waiting for motherboard to start
I recently changed my motherboard to a Gigabyte one. Before the Gigabyte logo appears, there is a black screen standing there for ~30 seconds. I can't find fastboot either. What should I do? If it matters: 6 GB RAM, 4GHz AMD A series, AMD Radeon R7 240 4GB DDR3. How to fix this?

How to increase maximum ram in a Desktop
I'm already running at the maximum ram for my desktop at 4GB. I would like to increase that but I'm not sure what I need to buy. I know it is impossible for me to put any more in so what do I need to purchase to do so? I want to improve game performance and I have no idea what needs to be bought.

Connecting a new Arris SB6141 to an existing Airport Time Capsule A1470
The gentleman I work for was currently using a DSL connection and an Airport Time Capsule A1470 for wireless and back up for his Mac computers. He switched providers, rather than rent a modem he purchased a Motorola Arris SB6141. When the new modem is hardwired connected we are getting a good signal, but when connecting the Airport Time Capsule we can't get a signal. I tried unplugging and also pressed the reset button on the Time Capsule.
I am at a loss of what else to do to help him. I have spoken with Comcast (service provider), they will not assist because the modem doesn't belong to them. I spoke with Motorola, established that we have an internet connection while on the phone with them by hardwiring and Apple support would not assist without having to purchase a new warranty plan.
I feel that there is just something very simple I am overlooking and really hope that someone on here can help me out.
My boss is a really great guy and I would hate to see him have to purchase a warranty plan just to get a connection to the internet with a new modem and new service provider.
