Dead bluetooth device?

I recently purchased a used Dell XPS M1530 laptop. The last owner installed Win 7 Pro, 32-bit on it. I'm still in the process of checking everything out, but cannot get the Bluetooth device to work. I went to the Dell support site, entered the service tag number, and found that a device was installed when the unit was built. I verified that it is installed by finding it, and it is plugged in, and it is enabled in the BIOS, but I cannot seem to get it to turn on. I tried the Dell on-line diagnostic, but that couldn't find any device. I tried to download a driver from Broadcom, but that will not load because it cannot find the device. I read the owner's manual, on-line, and cannot see how to turn the device on, so, I'm stumped. Oh, and the device is NOT shown in the Device Manager.

Lenovo B590 wont boot from usb key

I've just bought this laptop, and it came with windows 8 preinstalled, and I'm trying to install Windows 7 on it.

I have a bootable usb, which I've used many times to install Windows on my other laptops, but the B590 just wont do it. I feel like I've tried everything. I changed the boot priority order in BIOS with USB HDD as number 1 but it still just boots into windows 8.

I've tried removing everything but USB devices from the boot order, and now I get this boot menu:
http://i.imgur.com/1iV2iaW.jpg

Which is exactly what I want to boot from, but when I press enter to boot from the USB device, nothing happens. It's incredibly frustrating.

The USB device IS bootable with a primary partition. I've used these steps to make it bootable in DISKPART:
http://social.technet.microsoft.com/...usb-drive.aspx

After having no luck on the B590, I tried booting on the USB on a different computer, and it works perfectly well. Starts installing windows 7. So it seems like the problem is not with my usb device.

I even tried restoring the USB drive and using Lenovo Bootable Generator application to make the usb bootable, with the same result.

Can anyone help?

please help :(

Wierd overheat issue(s)

Lately I have been having wierd issues with my computer overheating. I think the overheating is caused by a perfect storm of burnt out power supply fans and poor case airflow so that is not really the question, my real problem is two anomalous numbers in a hard ware monitor report.

1) Under motherboard voltages 12v is listed as maxing out at somewhere around 9 volts, this is surely not normal?
2) The max cpu core temp is reported as over 200 degrees! and I know for a fact that the computer will shut down long before that.

I plan to replace the power supply soon so my main question is: Do you think something is wrong with the cpu temp sensor? and if so, is there anything I can do about it? (Most of the time it will show "correct" temps, the way off ones only show up once in a while.)

Solved: Ethernet RJ45

I notice that Ethernet RJ45 Cat5e cables vary considerably in price - with the most expensive costing 5 times the least expensive.

Is there any real benefit to purchasing an expensive Ethernet patch cable? And if there is what is the benefit?

Error code listed in hardware properties

I have aquired a HP Laptop that the Ethernet appears to be defective. It shows up as This Device Cannot Start (Code 10). I did a complete reinstall because it was using Windows 7 (was purchased by the owner) and I figured it was a driver issue. The original (and now current) OS is Windows Vista and the same thing shows.

I was looking in the properties of the Ethernet card for the vendor ID to make sure I got the correct driver (website has different make drivers) and saw there was a listing that says Problem Code with a value of 000000A -- I was wondering if this is the same like a STOP code or if there is a website with these codes? I have a screenshot of an example.

I'm pretty sure the Ethernet card is toast, I just wanted to make sure.

a question about a dell inspiron 1100

$

I found 2 Dell Inspiron 1100 laptop's in a yard sale (they are identical). I got a good deal on them. 1 did work 100%. The 2nd one worked 100% but only on the battery. The 2nd one has a problem with the charging circuit, the 2nd laptop won't charge the battery and won't run off the ac power pack.
The 1st laptop the video has stopped working. There is nothing on the lcd screen or an external monitor. But the cpu fan turns, the dvd drive does it's thing on start up, I can hear the hard drive working and the lights are normal. I tried swapping out both the video card and the cpu from the 2nd Dell laptop. That didn't fix the problem. I ordered a 1100 mother board from Ebay (old stock, never opened, never used) That mother board arrived Sept 3rd. Still the same problem. Nothing on ether screen. But the rest of the laptop works. The Ebay seller sent an other mother board out. That mother board arrived today (Sept-9th). I still have the same problem. I am beating my head on a brick wall on this one. I need some help.

LCD Monitor flicker

Problems with monitor flicker when using a secondary monitor with a laptop. Try this first before messing about with new driver downloads and cables. Ockam' razer approach! Following from a previous 'thread' on this issue, I disconnected the laptop from mains power - problem solved! Tested this by repeatedly reconnecting and then disconnecting the mains power. This testing proved conclusive that it was the mains power. Hope it works for you too.

So the past few days my mouse cursor will suddenly freeze where it is and none of my externals work; mouse, keyboard, and headset. The sounds and video will still be playing and everything else will continue running. The only way I can quick fix it is force restarting on my tower. It has been happening more and more and I have no idea how to fix.

I ask because even though there is a company who provide a sock and external aerial setup, they are too far away and expensive;)
