I am having difficulties with all of the sudden my cd/dvd-rom will not recognize Music CDs or burn DVDs or CDs. It used to do all of this and may computer is not that old (about 2 months). I have searched a variety of tech support websites, but have yet to find a solution. 1 possible solution from the Windows Support website for the CD burner issue says to, "Click to open the following folder:HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Explorer \CD Burning\Drives". Well, for some reason that folder is not on my computer. I originally assumed that it is a simple driver issue and I have already explored every available driver from the Manufacturer's support website, as well as, tried their technical support. Both have not solved my issue and so I now I believe the issue to be a Windows 7 problem of some sort. Any help that you can provide me with is very greatly appreciated. Thank you!

My sound on computer suddenly stops working, please help
I am watching a youtube video and the volume would stop working.. So, I would have to refresh the youtube video and get back to the part I left off, and it's very annoying and i'm wasting my monthly usage.
Also, I would on iTunes and same problem.. after 1-2 minutes of audio, it would suddenly stop working.
When I am playing a video from Windows media player, i would get an error message that says "An audio device was disconnected or reconfigured. Verify that the audio device is connected, and then try to play the item again".
I tried restarting my computer and it didn't help, my speakers/audio have been working fine for the past year until a couple days ago :S

External Hard Drive not detected by Windows explorer
I find that my external hard drive (Western Digital Desktop drive) is inaccessible. When I try to access it through Windows Explorer, It does not show the device at all. The HDD is detected by the device manager in disk drives.
The HDD is not detected in other 2 computers too. tried in a mac and windows laptops.
I ran CHKDSK. At the beginning, it gave me the following message: "Warning! F parameter not specified. Running CHKDSK in read-only mode." It claimed to fix some things at the end of step 2, but it didn't help.
Device Manager thinks that the device is running properly.
I rebooted the machine but that didn't help either.
I ran chkdsk/f as suggested for one of the similar problems in another thread, but for that lucky guy, the drive was visible in windows exploreer.
Any ideas?

Products from this company seem to be at the top end but it is almost impossible to obtain any information as the company itself does not have a website and there are only 2 reviews of the products online - which were probably written by the owners of the company :-)

Question about Multi-Monitor Setup (3)

At the moment, I have a Nvidia GeForce 9400 GT. This graphics card has 3 ports, which are; VGA, HDMI and DVI. This has two monitors connected up through the VGA and DVI, to use as a dual monitor setup.
Whenever I try to connect 3 monitors to it, I get a message which says 'This GPU can only support up to two monitors'
The question is:
Is there a workaround this problem? Like some sort of third party software I could use?
If not.. would I need a new graphics card to have a multi monitor setup (3 monitors)?
And could I add a PCI Graphics card and connect another one using that, or would it all just conflict?

Black screen freeze
Hello,
I've came here again, with the same issue, yet it's way worse than before. I have an Asus K53SC laptop, running Windows 7 Ultimate. My issue is that my laptop freezes, followed by a total black out (the laptop is still running, but I can't do anything, even the cursor disappears, and if I have a sound on background it repeats the last 2 syllables forever). Sometimes it occurs without a freeze, just my monitor turning black, and other times I get a blue screen. What I've seen during my troubleshooting tries is that whenever I don't get the blue screen (when only the monitor turns black), the event is not recognised as a crash.
This occurs when I browse the internet, most of the times when I watch a video, having pictures loading in the background, gifs, it even occurs when I'm watching movies (or playing games, it occurs while playing) and alt+tab it. Another thing I observed is that it occurs more often when running on High Performance/Entertaining Mode, while when on Battery Saving it only occured while watching movies or playing games.
I have tried to reproduce the problem in Safe Mode, but for some reason it never occured.
Initially, it was only occuring when I was alt+tabbing games, now it expanded to all other situations I previously mentioned.
My spec:
OS:W7 Ultimate 64 bit
Processor: Intel(R) Core (TM) i7-2670 QM CPU @ 2.20 GHz (8 CPUs)
RAM: 4 GB

Usb 2.0?
I am using an HP laptop Pavilion g6-1b60us. When I insert a memory stick into the usb port, I get a message that it would run faster if I plugged it into a USB 2.0 which I thought I was doing. What's the issue here?? Doesn't happen all the time.

Monitor shows black Screen after turning on.
This morning, when I turned the PC on, the monitor only showed a black screen. It was working well last night though. Th PC seems to work normally as it seems like it reaches the desktop part with start menu and all the short cut Icons. I know this because after waiting for a while, I press the windows button then press "U" two times(it's the hot key for shut down and turn off). The light around the power button of the monitor keeps on blinking instead of a consistent light(this thing usually happens after turning the PC on while there's still power on the monitor until the AVR is turned off). There were no beep sounds and such when turning the PC as it never had those kind of sounds even when things are okay.
If this helps, the fan for the video card is still working as other fans as well.
What could be the problem? Video Card? Monitor? Monitor to PC connection? I probably just need to know which is the problem for now.
EDIT: I'm not very knowledgeable on hardware terms and I'm not very good at this stuff as well so I probably won't try to do changes on my computer by my own.
If this helps, the fan for the video card is still working as other fans as well.

dell computer refusing to boot

Laptop Battery Not Present
I have a Sony Vaio VGN-A417M and for some time now it has only worked off AC. I've been under the assumption that the battery was shot. I've just bought a new battery and when it's been replaced it's exactly the same problem.
I've tried the steps of uninstalling it via Device Manager but to no avail.
Any advice would be greatly welcomed.

keyboard keys responding late!!
Hello Guys!!Here's the deal..I am having a Dell Xps M140 laptop...The problem is that the keyboard keys is responding late..i.e i need to press it for a long time..after pressing it works for few minutes..then later it comes back to normal:confused:..So is there any help i can get..Please do reply & I don't think that there is any major problem in keyboard..Its a laptop keyboard!!!:D

I used to have a black MS Natural Elite keyboard. It went bad after a couple of years so I am using an ivory version I had in storage. Now that one is going bad too. I can buy a new one online, but that would be quite pricey. I can buy a used one for considerably less money but I wouldn't know what defects I would be purchasing so I am asking are there other keyboards out there that are shaped the same? Where are they? What do I ask for?

No boot after clearing cmos
Hello everyone, long story short:
I helped my friend update his Bios, so I decided to check mine. I had version 901 or something and asus is up to 1604 so I decided to update. Update went fine, and I started up. I noticed that the CPU was running hot, about 15-20c above normal, and I figured the bios settings must be different. I decided to reset the cmos and go in and change them from the defaults. Well the Sabertooth 900fx doesn't have a cmos jumper (It has a CLR-RTC jumper, it may do the same thing, I'm not sure, don't have the manual), so I just pulled all the cables and pulled the battery. Put it back in... and got one post beep, accompanied by the board's "Boot device LED" light being on. Just the one beep, and no video signal (so I can't see if the bios is there or not).
I ran a tester on all the power cables, power is fine. Any ideas? Thanks.
update: Swapped out to my old video card, and same results, so that doesn't seem to be a problem. (thank god)
I'm thinking hard drive at this point, but I don't have another to test. The board only has SATA ports, and the only other drives I have in my pile are IDE. The boards SATA ports also point out to the side (which I hate) and interfere with my HD cage, so I have to pull the mobo to unplug the cable. Epson Printer - Ink Pads need Service!!
Hello all,
So I have a Epson Stylus Photo PX800FW printer at home.
It has thrown up the error message about the ink pads now need servicing.
Like most people online, this was a bit of a shock as I haven't had it that long and it would seem very expensive for the service repair.
So I have found software online that you can use to reset the counter telling the printer to stop working.
But my big problem is this, it won't work on my model of printer!! Has anyone seen or been able to run this software on this model before?
The software is the SSC Service Utility v4.30.
Whats really annoying, and will probably stop me buying Epson again, is that (ignoring the cost of ink and boy does it love to drink ink!!!) is that this is a multi-function printer and it won't let me use the scanner!! I use that more than printing. :mad:
Any help for the forum would be great!
